2009 Portland Adult Soapbox Derby

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

It was a fine day for the 13th annual soapbox races on Mt Tabor Park. A great chance to get out there and be a kid again. This is if as a kid you whiled your days away drinking cheap beer and building soapbox cars resembling oversized rodents, bird nests, and 80’s pop culture television shows.

There was of course blood to be spilled. Thankfully they had an expert band-aid applicator on site and plenty of coolers stocked with 12oz pain suppressants.

India Festival 2009 at Pioneer Place

Friday, August 21st, 2009

The annual event is organized by the India Cultural Association and is always packed with great entertainment. We had a busy morning but were able to make it down for a performance by Anjali School Of Dance

We were there to see Sagarika, the dancer in purple who is the daughter of some good friends of ours. Her older sister is an amazing Bharatanatyam Dancer as well.

Esha and friends

A recent model shoot with a new aspiring model, Esha.

No wardrobe, no stylist, no makeup artist, no problem, that’s what friends are for! When a model says she is going to do her own makeup I’m pretty skeptical. I have to admit in this case they did a great job.

I do need to take some credit for picking out a smashing $12 pair of leather shorts at a second hand store.
